The Dad Problem

THE_PROBLEM: THE_RIGID_LOOP

We tried the legacy repetition systems, the ones where you grind through 50 near-identical paper problems every day. They are effective, but they are unyielding (and hated). These systems are designed for a "standard" learner; they are hard to pivot when a child hits a specific wall, and the feedback loops are incredibly long. By the time a worksheet is marked a few days later, the moment of learning has already gone cold.

I wanted the undeniable benefit of repetition, but without the low-touch rigidity.

THE_INSIGHT: SMART_REPETITION

I realized I didn't need to go back to school for Computer Science to solve this; I just needed to define the "sense" of the system.

I wanted to keep the discipline of repetition but add a high-touch feedback loop. By letting AI handle the heavy lifting of the code, I can focus on the adaptive logic: how the app pivots when it senses a struggle, how it gives instant, meaningful feedback, and how it provides a structured sense of progress that feels like a journey rather than a grind. I'm not "coding" in the traditional sense—I'm directing a mentor.

How Time Kills Knowledge

Focus shifts at Week 6. Stopped practising Addition — the skill decays immediately.

Tutorroo — spiral rotation

Subjects rotate constantly. Both skills cross "Solid" together and hold.

THE_LOG: LEAVING_BREADCRUMBS

A polished app usually hides the mess it took to get there. Quiz Tales is where I’m keeping the mess visible.

This isn't a roadmap; it's a journal of the false starts, the trade-offs, and the moments where a feature only became "good" after my son told me it was rubbish. I’m not trying to scale to millions. I’m just trying to build something that works for two kids.
